SAHARA – Upliftment of children

Home / Cause / SAHARA – Upliftment of children

SIOL targets to empower underprivileged children who also happen to be differently abled through developmental initiatives focusing on educational, social, economic, cultural and technological aspects.

SIOL has a vision of an inclusive society free from discrimination where persons with disabilities become contributing members, living with dignity and respect. We as a voluntary organization in India are working with children and adults who have developmental and other disabilities. As a resource centre for people with special needs, we provide early intervention services, livelihoods, development, education, training and awareness. We believe that when we plan for the most vulnerable the world works better for everyone. Our ‘rights’ based approach challenges injustice and demonstrates how inclusion works.

Though Minorities in India basically enjoy an equal status within their own community, they face similar issues as the non-minorities suffer.

However, there are some issues that are typical of a particular minority.

SIOL has initiated following programmes for ensuring equal treatment of minorities.

– Organised ‘sarv-dharma sadbhavna divas’, an all-religion integration program

– Helped women from a minority community to enrol in schools

– Enrolled in martial arts camps

– Educated against early marriages

– Organised medical camps
